Please explore class descriptions under ‘Upcoming Classes’ on my website. … I am teaching classes Wednesdays and Saturdays this fall, and am offering several workshops as well, at various locations in and near Campbell River, at my Home Studio, and at the MacMillan Arts Centre in Parksville.
Workshops are $85 for a full day (~6 hours) and $50 for a half day (usually ~4 hours) and include all supplies. Classes are 3 hours and also include all supplies. Class tuition is $47.50 for one class, $90 for two, and $125 for three. Looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new! Happy Tangling 🙂
What a lot of fun I have been having! Last Fall and Spring I taught workshops in Ontario, and up and down Vancouver Island, as well as being invited to teach at Tangle U! So in April I travelled to Portland Maine for Tangle U 2016 to teach 118 CZT’s from all over the world, and was inspired by the many other classes I attended! I have soooo much to share! What fun!
In the last year or so I have studied with such wonderful and inspiring teachers. Cheryl Moote, (Twice!) Lynn Mead, Minette Riorden, Margaret Bremner, Lisa Heron, Denise Rudd, Kate Lamontagne, Meridith Yuhas, Molly Hollibaugh (Twice!), Betty Abdu, Brenda Shaver, Chris Letourneau, and Laura Harms (the diva).
I have also had the opportunity to do Pro D workshops for various school districts on Vancouver Island as well as some classroom gigs (which I LOVE) teaching elementary and highschool students.
I love collaborating with other CZT’s and Barb Round, Nancy Dawes, Brenda Shaver and I have all teamed up in the last year, (not to mention the Tangle Island team of myself, Marie Browning, Barb Round Nancy Dawes and Linda Gardner), and I am looking forward to a Zentangle Christmas with CZT Rhonda Roy. Collaborating just multiplies the fun and I am looking forward do doing more of this!
Looking forward to a great new season meeting old friends and making new.
What a special day we had February 13th. Fellow CZT Barb Round and I hosted a day long workshop in Campbell River we called Valentangle. We tangled heart shapes, we played with Twinkling H20 paints, and participants went home with several valentine themed pieces as well as a booklet crammed full of hear/valentine themed tangles to try out. It was a perfect way to tangle our way into Valentines Day!
April 2015 News…
This Spring I am offering a variety of classes in Campbell River, Parksville, and Ladysmith. It has been a delightfully busy winter, teaching from my home studio in Campbell River, in Ladysmith, and for the School District in their eblend homeschooled, and alternate school programs. I have had the privilege to meet so many wonderful people, and share my love of art.
Also I have been getting together with the TANGLE ISLAND CZT’ team including the renowned Marie Browning, to fine tune the amazing retreat we are offering in Parksville at the Beach Club September 18th , 19th, and 20th.. I promise you this is going to be a delightful and inspiring weekend …A Zentangle retreat on Vancouver Island in the Pacific Northwest, on the edge of a rainforest, within view of snow-capped mountains, overlooking a spectacular sandy beach, pampered in a luxury resort, learning, meeting and sharing with other Zenthusiasts! Registrations are filling up so check it out …For more information see the link on my website, or go to tangleisland.blogspot.ca
To my delight I have heard form many students, and received photo’s of their lovely art work and journaling. Many have spoken to me about how Zentangle has helped them relax, or held them up thru some of life’s more difficult challenges. It truly is a practice that seems to help us be present in the moment, release our stresses,, and discover the joys of our own life. As Rick and Maria explain it:
If life is an art form and then the Zentangle Method is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life.
And yes… I too have been ‘Spring Cleaning’ and my home studio has a more open feel to it as I endeavored to move out everything that wasn’t studio, and reorganized my art supplies. In the process, after listening to feedback from students, I also reorganized my Beyond Basics class into two parts, (102 & 103) allowing for a more in depth focus exploring some of the advanced nuances and fun possibilities in tangling. I am excited to share this! I am offering this as two classes for both in a one or two day format)
Remember if you have taken a class, and wish for a refresher, you are welcome to sit in again for free …as long as there is space.. 🙂
Happy Tangling, and I look forward to sharing my love of this beautiful practice with you…Jerryann
It has been an exciting and busy year for me in my tangled artistry! This Summer I was a participating artist in Courtenay’s Elevate the Arts, Campbell River’s ArtFest, and was also at Ladysmith’s Arts on the Avenue!
I have met many wonderful people, and had lots of classes, with registrants from Ontario for my Organic Tangled Garden class , as well as other Island locations! It is always great to see everyone, and to see the beautiful works that you have produced since our first class together!
Kids have been a big part of my teaching, as I am passionate about encouraging young artists! As the BC school strike lingered on into September, I had a fabulous time with young people aged 8 to 14… and am continually amazed by the beautiful applications they find for their Zentangles!
Lastly This fall I have been doing classes for Eldercollege, and facilitating the ‘secrets of the colour theory’ in beginners acrylics classes. One class has three generations of family members, and again, it is just so exciting to see how they are all masteringtechniques and producing truly lovely pieces of art!
After Christmas I will be doing more teaching in both Zentangle, and other mediums. If there is a class you would like to explore please email me and I will try to work it into the schedule! I am also planning to teach some beginning and advanced classes again in Ladysmith so I will keep you posted!
One class I have already committed to for the new year is a weekly acrylic ‘Exploring the styles of great artists’… So if you have always yearned to paint your own “Starry Night”, or want to know more about the life and times of Kandinsky, this is the class for you… (lots of fun!)
All these classes are being held at my home studio, and I always have tea and coffee available, and if it’s a blustery day, I usually have a nice fire going in the woodstove too!
Do register early for my space is limited…
Cheers, and happy tangling,
These are my “deck” of 53 ATC’S (Artist Trading Cards), which are the same size as baseball cards. CZT’s (Certified Zentangle Teachers) from all over the world are participating in a ‘swap’! I will receive 52 art cards back from 52 different CZT’s. The extra card form all of our decks will be used to create gift decks for Rick and Maria Roberts, and some of our members who were unable to participate. You can imagine I will be waiting at the mailbox every day … I will post a picture of the ones I recieve back when they arrive! So many ways to have Zentangle fun!
By the way… The Campbell River Art Gallery hosts an ATC swap every two months that is lots of fun to participate in. We have every art form represented, and artists of all ages participate. Consider doing up some art cards of your own and coming out to join us… you can contact me for more details… or if you don’t live in Campbell River contact your local Art Gallery and start a swap… I look forward to being inspired each and every time.
A gathering our Vancouver Island BC CZTs for a day at my house… Nancy came from Courtenay, and Marie drove up from Victoria; the rest of us are Riverites (Campbell River). We had a blast sharing over morning coffee, talking, lunching, laughing and tangling… We had so much fun we carried thru to the evening and all went out to dinner!
These two tiles are part of a ‘missing tangle U’ tile swap featuring Zentangle with an Ocean Theme…
They will be displayed at Tangle U this April and then I will receive two others back in the mail…. can’t wait!
